Two monks from a very strict order were walking through the woods when they came across a deep stream. Next to the stream was a scantily clad woman crying her eyes out. She let out a plea "Please help me brothers for I must get across....... but I am frightened of water and of the fish who swim there".

The younger of the two monks picked the woman up and carried her across the stream. As he set her down on the far side the woman smiled, thanked the monk and kissed him on the cheek. She then ran off.

The older of the monks was annoyed by the actions of the younger and for the next 3 hours of their journey he berated the other, talking of chastity, sanctity of vows, moral transgressions and the like. The younger monk looked him in the eye and said ......"Brother, I may have touched the woman....... but I put her down after a few seconds. You, on the other hand have been carrying her for over three hours!"
