A long time ago in a desert
very far away from here, groups of traveller's were
sitting around their campfire at midnight enjoying
the stars and the cool evening breeze.
In the distance, a bright white
light suddenly filled the night sky illuminating the
dessert. The travellers looked in wonder at the bright
white light..... as it was like nothing they had ever
seen before.
Then a voice boomed down from
the light giving them specific orders....... First,
they were to gather pebbles from around the camp and
place them into bags. Then the groups were to travel
for exactly a day and set their camp up at a certain
spot.
The voice told them that at
the end of the journey they would be both happy and
sad. The travellers thought these commands were very
odd, but as this was a new experience for them, they
would do as they had been told.
They collected the pebbles,
took down their tents, loaded their camels, and started
the journey. For the next 24 hours they travelled
through the cold night and the hot bright day and
then into the night again. At midnight the following
night, they were exhausted... but curious about the
outcome of their journey.
They stopped walking, set their
tents, and lit their fire. Then they remembered the
pebbles.
They opened the bags and found
inside not the pebbles but in their place diamonds.
Moreover, they were indeed both sad and happy; sad
that hadn't picked up more pebbles but happy that
they had the diamonds.
I am a software trainer
and I use this near the beginning of my course, to
create a learning frame. 'Pick up as many rocks as
you can and they turn to diamonds.... means 'listen
to as much as possible and you may get some really
good information'. I have a diploma in hypnotherapy
from the LCCH and I am currently doing my master practitioner
with ITS. I produce audio CDs to back up my therapy
and would be interested in swapping free music with
others. Tom Mcguire www.tommytrance.co.uk
