A friend of mine recently
went through an experience that turned out to be quite
instructive......on a number of levels.......he had
wanted to get a new job....one that paid more and
afforded him greater prestige.......he applied for
the position even though he knew it would mean moving
to a new area if he was successful.
He wanted the job very much
but was uncertain about the move necessary to make
things happen......and he asked for a week to think
it over......and they politely agreed he could take
a week to decide. A week of changing feelings went
by....and a week later when they called him back.....he
asked for a further 3 days in order to decide.
When they called him 3 days
later he asked if he could have another day to decide.....and
they politely agreed he could have another day to
decide. When they called him the next morning and
asked for his answer, he asked if he could tell them
later in the day and they rudely told him they gave
the job to somebody else apparently more enthusiastic
about the opportunity.
He was quite upset as he really
wanted the job, but had got himself into a state thinking
there were too many things to do at once.....instead
of realising that he could move and work and live
one day at a time...
