The meta4 is from the Hypnobirthing Institute for their Forest Fantasy Induction: This visualization should be proceeded with any induction that places the client somewhere in her special place in nature:

You look and in the distance you see a beautiful enchanted magical-looking forest. As you approach the forest, you see that there is a lovely path leading into the forest....... Take that path.

You are now inside the wonderful, enchanted forest. Look all around you, see the flowers. See the cluster of flowers growing by the side of the trees. And as you walk along the path ... imagine the path beneath your feet ...... notice that there is the most beautiful twisting ivy all along the edge of the path.

Moss covers the rocks and the floor of the forest and it is all a beautiful emerald green. The water or dew on that covers the forest leaves, sparkles like little gems - also green like emerald.

What a beautiful, peaceful and wonderful forest.......... Listen now ... you can hear something off to the side. It is the sound of something moving in the forest. Let your eyes follow the sound and look --- just ahead in the clearing is the most beautiful speckled fawn.

The fawn sees you and it leaps and it hides behind a tree. It peeks it's sparkling eyes out from around the tree to be sure that you are there. You approach the fawn and put your hand out to it.

Speak to it. Speak to this darling fawn. Just as you start to get close to the fawn ... just as you are ready to touch it .. it leaps again and frolics and runs behind another tree.

Follow the fawn. It wants to play. .. and there it goes ... leaping and hiding behind another tree ... and another. Follow the fawn - that's what it's eyes are saying "come with me".

As you follow the fawn and you get close to it .. ... it leaps and goes to another tree..... All of a sudden you're aware of the fact that you've been moving quite a distance in this forest and that you can see sunlight beginning to filter down through the trees.

One of the rays of sun is shining on the back of your little fawn, and your little fawn looks back to you to be sure that you're there - looking for reassurance, and you follow the fawn. The fawn leaps and frolic's more and goes closer and closer to the edge of the forest.

Now you're aware that the forest edge is thinning. More and more light is becoming visible and the fawn is standing right at the edge of the forest and now ... a beautiful .. wonderful .. magical thing is happening. The path of the forest is beginning to open up ... and the rays of sun are coming through and they shine on the path and the fawn looks back at you. You nod your head and say "yes ... it is time" and the fawn very slowly ... very gently ... very easily finds his way timidly along the of the forest.

All at once the fawn finds itself out in the sunshine and the fawn looks back at you once more and you follow and you're out in the sunshine too. And you can now stroke and pet the fawn.

Play now ... pet and nurture the fawn as you spend time together in this wonderful place. (give 30-40 seconds)

It's time now to return to your favorite place in nature where you left your conscious mind resting. I'm going to count up from one to five now and as I do ... you'll become more alert... feeling as though you have experienced a wonderful, refreshing nap. Even though your journey today into the beautiful forest is over .. you'll remember always the wonderment of having known your fawn in this forest ... where the fawn was able to explore and grow into such a darling being.

Get ready now to come back 5 ...4 ....You're more alert ... beginning to move your feet .. beginning to move your hands 3 2 1 and feeling very good about the experience of finding and bringing your own little fawn out into this world.

Ed's note: Thanks Patricia, a very charming metaphor! I enjoyed the idea of 'leading the fawn somewhere'.

Childbirth induction's/suggestions need to be very precise as to their timing. For those in life who are highly suggestible, care needs to be taken that the birth is rehearsed/imagined as happening ONLY at the right time in the future... obviously not rehearsing birth, months before hand. (Aware of implications and incriminations of premature birth).

Finally then, birth WILL happen, as it always does... and knowing this, perhaps all therapists should include the suggestions/strategy/goal/... of comfort/ease for the mother!
