1-2-1 Hypnotherapy
Clinical Hypnotherapy is a modern psychotherapy,
utilizing a completely natural state of mind, commonly known
as 'trance'. Its practice and methodology incorporate a
wide range of ideas and approaches, as practiced within
the more traditional schools of psychology / psychotherapy.
Hypnosis is an
accepted and highly effective mode of treatment, and provides
rapid assistance with:
Test or Exam nerves |
Accelerated Healing |
Auditions / Stagefright |
Allergic responses |
Emotional barriers |
Sports performance |
Confident public speaking |
Figure enhance/weight loss |
Eliminate/modify habits |
Fears & Phobias |
Self confidence / esteem |
And much more... |
Perhaps the most practical method of defining
Hypnosis has come from the influential American psychiatrist,
Dr.Milton H Erickson (1901-1980), whose philosophy has had
a widespread influence on modern hypnotherapy. Erickson
defined hypnosis as a state in which the subject experiences
a heightened awareness, with the ability to concentrate
his/her attention on thoughts, beliefs, and memories that
are beyond 'normal' waking consciousness.
Your mind/body knows how to heal
itself from many mental & physical ills, though this
ability and knowledge remain largely unconscious. Trance
therefore, provides you with a metaphorical 'bridge' to
your unconscious resources, which can then be mobilized
to assist you in the required ways.

How many sessions?
This is entirely dependent upon the complaint, and the
individual concerned. Some complaints respond very quickly,
as in the case of limiting behavior's and habits, such as
smoking, which can often be eliminated within one two hour
session . Other complaints have been known to take five
or six sessions plus.
It is unrepresentative of any style of therapy to make
bold claims about 'rapid cures', as there is not one single
treatment strategy that can possibly apply to everyone.
However, when considering the options that other therapies
offer, Hypnosis often requires the least amount of clinical
time. As a rough guide then, a minimum of two sessions is
to be expected.
Your first session.
The majority of the first session is for the non-intrusive
gathering of information (symptom background), and for assisting
you in learning to develop your individual 'trance' state.
The experience of the actual session typically begins by
simply talking through the problem(s). At a suitable moment
you will be encouraged to close your eyes and begin to relax,
either by recalling a certain time of your life, or by focusing
your attention on your muscles as you learn to relax systematically.
The trance state is then gently and purposefully induced,
serving as the primer for the following sessions.
The level of trance that you enter is unique to every session.
Nearly always the desired results can be obtained in a light
to medium depth of trance. After the session you would typically
notice that you feel pleasantly relaxed, and there is a
feeling of general well-being. Most people can recall nearly
all of the trance experience, though what you actually remember
is usually of little importance regarding the effectiveness
of the session.
The second session is usually where any strategic interventions
are applied, and trance is gently and purposefully induced
(from the outset), and your resources utilized. Where multiple
sessions are indicated, a flexible treatment structure may
well be in place, whereby each session naturally builds
on the previous, with many smaller changes in thought and
behavior being encouraged.
